English 9 Course Description: This introductory, year-long English class is required for all 9th grade students. This course will cover the following literature genres: short stories, epics, nonfiction, drama, novels, and poetry. The following writing genres will also be covered: narrative, expository, descriptive and technical. A research project will be included, as will public speaking, vocabulary, and grammar.
English 10 Course Description: This year-long English class is designed to hone the skills introduced the previous year. This course will focus on American literature in both novels and other genres. The following writing genres will be covered: narrative, expository, descriptive and technical. Literary terms will be covered, as will public speaking, vocabulary, and grammar.
WORRIED ABOUT YOUR GRADE?
*Pay attention to deadlines. Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late assignments that are turned in before the beginning of the next school day are deducted 10%. After that, all late assignments are 50% off.
*Most tests can be retaken and many assignments can be redone.
*Extra credit is available, and can be used to raise total grade up to one letter grade.
